Back of the photo reads:

Tournament at old St. Joseph's Catholic Church near Cordova, MD. Over fifteen hundred persons were present as riders (professional and amateur) revived the ancient sport.

General View of the Tournament

In the background at the left of center are the "Knights" awaiting their turns. A rider is engaged in the contest as he nears the third ring post. At the right is the official stand (tri-colored bunting). Man on horse at right of center is startled - after the announcement of the next rider is given he charges the "knight" with this typical chant, "Knight of Bunker Hill, ready; charge, Sir Knight, charge!"
