Talbot County and the Movies
Since the early days of the movie industry Talbot County has been a prominent location for filming movies and premiering movies. From the movie "almost no one remembers" I Will Repay starring Talbot County's own George Junkin, 4th. This was followed up by the most famous of movies, Paramount's silent film The First Kiss starring a young Gary Cooper and Fay Wray. More recent movies include Silent Fall (1994) starring Richard Dreyfuss and the Eastern Shore's own Linda Hamilton, Guarding Tess (1994) and Clara's Heart (1988).
Premires with all the galmour of Hollywood's hey day have not been able to escape Talbot County. In 1955 MGM's Hit the Deck starring Debbie Reynolds and Ann Miller premiered at Easton's Avalon Theatre. The corner of Dover and Harrison was packed for this event.
