Genealogical Databases at the Talbot County Free Library

Easton: On Saturday, Nov. 4 th , at Noon, Kearby Bon Parker, a professional genealogist, will demonstrate how to use the library's four genealogical databases: Ancestry Library Edition, Biography Resource Center, Heritage Quest Online, and ProQuest Ancestry Obituaries.

Genealogy is the fastest-growing hobby in North America, with many surveys and media sources proclaiming that it has surpassed quilting, stamp collecting and even gardening in popularity. This program is a perfect opportunity to explore the incredible resources available from Talbot Library's databases. Subscriptions to these online databases are very expensive; however, they are free to anyone with a library card from any public library on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. All but one are available 24/7 from work or home.

Mrs. Parker has pursued her interest in historical research and preservation for over twenty years. Through her business, Keys to Genealogy, she conducts research for clients and gives presentations to colleges, historical societies, preservation groups, libraries, and family associations. A native Washingtonian, she earned a BA from Northwestern University and an MS from Georgetown University. She has lived in Talbot County since 1989.
