The Wye Oak and Schoolhouse

Near Wye Mills, Talbot County, Maryland

Over 400 years old and the largest white oak in the U.S., this famous tree is the official State Tree of Maryland. It has a spread of 165 feet, is 95 feet high, and 27’ 8” around in its trunk. The little schoolhouse was built in the early 1700’s and restored by Queen Anne’s Garden Club in 1952.
