Maryland celebrates its 350th Anniversary of the Colonists who sailed from St. Clements Island up the Potomac River and established the First Settlement, that of "St. Maries Citty," the Colonial Capital of Maryland in 1634. Cecil Calvert, the second Lord Baltimore, founded "The Act of Religion" which assured Freedom of Worship to all Maryland Residents.
With the Freedom of the Right to Worship, the Society of Friends, or Quakers, erected a Frame House of Worship in Easton, Maryland. Built 300 years ago, it is the oldest Frame House of Worship still standing today in the United States. William Penn, Quaker Leader, attended a Meeting of the Friends here in 1682.
